We went grocery shopping yesterday - first trip the store since we decided to change up how we ate. Here is what we ended up with:

-carrots

-cucumbers

-organic baby arugula (similar to spinach, but has more taste)
-jennie-o ground turkey
-deli sliced jennie-o turkey lunch meat
-sugar cookie dough
-fat free whipped topping
-fat free cream cheese
-1 gal. skim milk
-1 lb. block colby jack cheese
-1 doz. eggs
-2 bottles juice
-Life cereal
-Kix cereal
-whole wheat bread
-pesto and mozzarella veggie chips
-fat free wheat thin chips
-tub low fat natural vanilla yogurt
-fruit and berry granolla
-1/2 gal. vanilla soy milk
-seasoned chik'n strips (morningstar farms - vegeterian)
-orange juice
The cookie dough, cream cheese, and whipped topping was to make a fruit pizza - which turned out DELICIOUS. Both boys, Brent, and myself devoured it - success! So I will definitely be making that again, only next time I am going to make a homemade crust for it rather than store bought cookie dough.
I am excited to try out some new recipes - last night we made tacos using the ground turkey. They were delicious. Much lighter than beef, but much better taste. I'm planning on making a stirfry tomorrow!
We have decided that we will no longer buy anything canned - fruits, veggies, etc. They are high in sodium and preservatives that deplete the nutritional value of the food so we are going to avoid them and opt for fresh fruits and veggies, or occasionally frozen.
Brent was officially promoted, and started as the assistant manager today! I'm going to surprise him with a delicious smoothie.. he'll be home soon! :-)
